Poll Result: Of the TV shows I've been reviewing recently, which is your favourite?

Sunday, 6 December 2009

Last week I asked everyone to vote in a poll about which TV show you've enjoyed the most since autumn (from the 16 I've been reviewing here since September.) The results are below:

In joint-last place with precisely no votes are: Eastbound & Down, Heroes (a little surprising?), Defying Gravity, Paradox, Collision and V. But the Top 7 are as follows...

In 7th place:

HARPER'S ISLAND

I'm glad this made the list, as I truly believe it was something of an unsung gem. There are some shows that just become a joy to watch every week, and Harper's Island was a great Sunday evening of double-bills on BBC3. 2% of you agree.

In joint-6th place:

FLASHFORWARD, DOLLHOUSE & THE FIXER

4% of you think that FlashForward has been worth tuning in for, together with Dollhouse and The Fixer. I'm most surprised that there's some love for ITV1's The Fixer, which certainly improved in its second year. But surely Dollhouse should have been a bit further up the chart...

In 5th place:

FRINGE

I'm possibly in the minority in thinking season 2 hasn't been as good as season 1, but 8% of you think Fringe is still must-watch television.

In 4th place:

PEEP SHOW

A slight surprise, but great to see the excellent comedy Peep Show get 10% of your votes. The recent sixth series was certainly the best six episodes of comedy I've seen all year.

In joint-3rd place:

DEXTER & MISFITS

There's still a lot of love for Dexter, which is reflected in the amount of comments reviews attract every week, as 14% of you believe this has been the best TV treat of the past three months. And equalling its support is E4's new teen-superhero drama Misfits, which is certainly a sign of how quickly this excellent series has curried favour with people.

In 2nd place:

MERLIN

This has certainly been a fantastic year for Merlin, which has come on leaps and bounds since the awkward first series. It's now one of the most popular reviews here, so it's no surprise that 20% of you think this has been the best thing on telly.

In 1st place:

CHUCK

The winner is a show which, like Merlin, found its feet in season 2 and is one of the blog's most popular destinations -- and not just thanks to the occasional Yvonne Strahovski link via Google Images. I'm still not sure if there are that many Brits who love this show, as a lot of comments (and thus votes?) come from Americans. But, hey, 22% of DMD's readers think Chuck's broadcast on Virgin1 has been the highlight of their TV week.
