Chuck & V saved, FlashForward axed

Friday, 14 May 2010
NBC's spy-comedy Chuck has been renewed for a 13-episode fourth season, despite a recent drop in ratings in its competitive Monday night timeslot. ABC's alien invasion remake V is also back for 13-episodes, more surprisingly given the poor critical reaction and low ratings, but doing so spares the network's blushes that (otherwise) all of its 2009/10 drama failed.

ABC's big sci-fi hope FlashForward, heavily promoted as "the new Lost" last year, won't be returning for a second season. Critical reaction was terrible, audiences grew bored quickly, there were creative challenges at every step, a difficult turnaround of showrunners, a debilitating four-month hiatus at mid-season, and recently the show has been getting its lowest ever ratings. So, no surprise it won't be back for more. I hear the last episode is something of a cliffhanger, which will be frustrating for the few people still watching.
