Fox are moving Fringe to Friday nights, starting 28 January. The currently airing third season has attracted praise for its inventive storytelling technique (alternating between two parallel dimensions), but it continues to have problems drawing more than 5 million viewers on Thursday nights. That's unlikely to change with a move to Fridays (a notoriously barren day for TV in the US), so there's already speculation Fringe's days are numbered...
If so, hopefully the writers can bring the storyline to an effective conclusion next summer. But is such pessimism premature? Maybe Fringe will carry a loyal Thursday audience with it, and Fox will be overjoyed to have a Friday night show with a consistent 5m people watching. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking and it's only a matter of time before the axe falls, as happened to Dollhouse earlier this year.
