Are you disappointed The Inbetweeners gang won't be going to university for a fourth series? Channel 4's new student comedy Fresh Meat could be a good alternative, as it comes from the brains of Peep Show writers Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, and tells the story of six house-sharing "freshers". One of which is even Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas!
There are certainly reasons to be excited by this new comedy, because if it's even just half as funny as Peep Show it's going to be the best UK sitcom of this year. Mind you, the last university-set comedy that worked on British television was probably The Young Ones in the '80s, as this year's surrealCampus didn't find an audience. Oh, and Fresh Meat stars comedy kryptonite Jack Whitehall, but maybe he'll be funnier when speaking someone else's words?
If Fresh Meat's as funny as The Inbetweeners, with the attitude of Skins and Peep Show-level angst, this could be a really great show. We'll have to see.
FRESH MEAT premieres on Channel 4 on Wednesday 21 September @10PM.
