Below are my personal TV picks for the week ahead (8-14 October), focusing on the premieres for UK television only...

Wonderland: I Was Once A Beauty Queen (BBC2, 9pm) Documentary about British beauty pageants of the '70s and '80s. Featuring testimonials from former Beauty Queens like Carolyn Seaward, Tracy Dodds, Della Dolan & Madeleine Stringer.
Magnificent Machines: The Golden Age Of The British Sports Car (BBC4, 9pm) Documentary about the post-war boom of UK sports cars like the MG Midget, Sprite and Jaguar E-Type. Featuring Quentin Wilson & Stirling Moss. Narrated by Tamsin Greig.
The Great Train Robbery (ITV1, 10.35pm) Documentary on the famous 1963 heist of a Royal Mail train.
PICK OF THE DAY 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4, 10pm) Series 14 of the comedy panel show based on polls and statistics. Hosted by Jimmy Carr with team captains Sean Lock & Jon Richardson. (1/12)

Jewish Mum Of The Year (Channel 4, 9pm) Reality series where eight Jewish women compete to be crowned the best mother of the year. Judges are Tracy-Ann Oberman & Dovid Katz. (1/4)
PICK OF THE DAY Fresh Meat (Channel 4, 10pm) Series 2 of the university comedy-drama about a group of students in Manchester. Starring Jack Whitehall, Joe Thomas, Greg McHugh, Kimberley Nixon, Zawe Ashton & Charlotte Ritchie. (1/8)
Nurse Jackie (Sky Atlantic, 10.35pm) Season 4 of the US comedy-drama about a nurse addicted to prescription drugs. Starring Edie Falco.

Great British Foods Revival (BBC2, 8pm) Brand new series exploring British produce. Presented by Michel Roux Jr & James Martin. (1/10)

Mike & Molly (Comedy Central, 9.30pm) Season 3 of the US sitcom about two overweight lovers.

PICK OF THE DAY Plane Crash (Channel 4, 9pm) Factual special where a Boeing 727 is intentionally crashed, filmed from interior and exterior cameras.
Battle Castle With Dan Snow (Discovery Channel, 9pm) Documentary series looking at various medieval fortifications and castles, starting with a look at the Crac des Chevaliers in Syria. Presented by historian Dan Snow. (1/6)
Corfu: A Tale Of Two Islands (ITV1, 10.35pm) Documentary series about the lives of expats and tourists living on the Greek island of Corfu. (1/8)
