After months of hype and, frankly, too many previews that spoiled a lot of surprises, Fox's comic-book drama GOTHAM finally premiered last night in the U.S. I already reviewed this pilot in the summer, and think it has the makings of a decent show; but one that feels unnecessarily tethered to the Batman franchise. I like the idea of a heightened reality crime show about an idealistic detective doing his best in a city of dirty cops, but care less about the origins of a young Penguin or what Catwoman was doing as a teenage girl.
But what did you make of Gotham's first episode? Impressed? Disappointed? Will you be watching more? Do you share my concerns? Let me know in the comments below.
