The nominees for the 81st Academy Awards have been announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences from the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly.
The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button dominates the list, The Dark Knight loses out on Best Picture/Best Director nominations (but Heath Ledger picks up the expected posthumous nod for Supporting Actor), while Mickey Rourke, Kate Winslet and Slumdog Millionaire are also strong contenders.
The 81st Academy Awards will take place on 22 February at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
